Suboccipital Stretch

Suboccipital Stretch

This exercise will reduce forward head posture, neck tension and improve flexibility of your suboccipital muscles.

When your head comes forward in a forward head posture, this can cause compression at the base of your skull where you have muscles called your suboccipitals. The goal of this stretch is to elongate or decompress this area to relieve tension and pressure. To get into this stretch, place your right hand on your chin and apply pressure down and back. With your top hand, pull up and over. Hold for 3 deep breaths and repeat 3 times.
